In Ruth 3:3, Naomi tells Ruth to wash, anoint herself with oil, and then go down to Boaz. This is the fateful night when Boaz turns his eyes to her. Boaz is called her goel: the kinsman redeemer. Messiah is our Goel. In the same way, we want Messiah's eyes to turn to us. Reyach is a Hebrew word for perfume. It comes from the Hebrew word ruach which means spirit. So how do we turn Messiah's eyes to us? We cleanse ourselves and adorn ourselves with the fragrant oil of the Ruach - the Holy Spirit. In Hebrew ruach and reyach, spirit and perfume, are virtually identical. Thus, the way to make yourself beautiful and live a life of sweetness is to live in the Spirit of God. It is only the Spirit of God that can make a life truly sweet and beautiful. So take some beauty tips from Ruth today: bathe - cleanse yourself in God's grace; put on the Reyach - apply the Spirit to your life liberally. Then go right into the presence of your Beloved; your Kinsman Redeemer and your life will be filled with His sweetness.
