Your Own And Not Your Own

I Peter 3 says, "Wives submit yourselves to your own husbands." Some translations don't include the word 'own.' But in the original language, the point is emphasized. Wives submit yourselves to your own husband; be accountable to, love, and focus on your own husband; not somebody else's. Don't compare him to another husband who's more considerate, who leads the Bible study in church, or the husband you want him to be, but your own husband. You weren't commanded to be subject to or reverence another husband but your own husband. And men, you're commanded by God to love your own wives, not your neighbor's wife, or your friend's wife, nor to compare your wife to another. Husbands and wives, your love is to be given to your own. If you can't love the one you pledged to love all your days then forget about loving anybody else. The notion that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence is a lie. Put your devotion into your own lawn. Delight in your own spouse and the Lord will bless it. Bless your own and your own will become a blessing.
