The Sabbath Must be Entered

Those of you who live or work with Orthodox Jews are aware of something that happens every week. Every week, on Friday, a few hours before sunset, they begin going home early, doing last minute shopping and preparations, then rushing to their homes before sundown. Why? It's the Shabbat, the Sabbath. For them, the Sabbath doesn't just come, as do other days of the week. It has to be prepared for... and has to be entered. In the same way, it is written in the fourth chapter of Hebrews, that God's people must also enter the Shabbat. For there we are told that there remains a Sabbath for the people of God... and we must labor to enter it. You see, for us in Messiah, the peace of the Shabbat is every day. It doesn't just come to us. But the Shabbat, the Sabbath, you must enter. Choose to enter into the presence of God, every day of your life. And you can dwell in the Shabbat. Or in other words, every day of your life will be the weekend. Let it start today. Shabbat Shalom.
